As cycling becomes increasingly popular it's important to have a better understanding of how to stay safe on the roads. Motorists and cyclists have a responsibility for ensuring everyone's safety as they commute to and from work, or while using the road networks for leisure.

The recommended minimum safe distances are as follows -

  • 0.75m between the kerb edge and cyclist
  • 1.5m overtaking distance between motorist and cyclist
