Each guide is suitable for parents, grandparents and other carers with children aged from birth to adolescent. They can all be completed flexibly at their own pace.
Councillor Peter Clark, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “Hull City Council recognises the important role parents and carers have in securing positive outcomes for children and young people across the city, and that is why we are adopting this approach. This well-established model supports parents and carers to build their resilience, knowledge and confidence so they are equipped with skills that will help them to be the very best parent.
“There are so many benefits associated to completing the online guides, from increased confidence and understanding of child development to better behaved children.”
This approach has also been embedded throughout the council’s children and family service with full training provided to practitioners in the use of the approach. Practitioners have been offered consultation sessions after the training to support the application of their learning in to practice.
