COVID-19 service update -
Due to the Coronavirus it has become neccesary to put the following service restrictions or limitations in place -
- bulky waste collections are suspended until further notice
- bring out your rubbish days are suspended until further notice
General Waste and Recycling
We ask that all residents ensure their bin lids are closed fully.
If anyone in your household is suffering from symptoms of coronavirus, that any hygiene related waste such as tissues, wipes and cleaning cloths are double-bagged and stored at your home for 72 hours as per government guidance, before disposing of it in the black refuse bin.
All other waste can be disposed of as normal.
This is a precaution method that helps to minimise any risk to our front-line staff during this period.
Household Waste Recycling Centres
With immediate effect all Household Waste Recycling Centres within Hull and the East Riding are closed until further notice.
This decision is based on the Prime Minister’s statement made 23 March 2020 advising that 'From this evening people must stay at home except for shopping for basic necessities, daily exercise, any medical need and travelling to and from essential work'.
It is the Councils current interpretation that the use of HWRCs does not fall within this definition. The Council reserves the right to review this temporary arrangement at any time. For example, the HWRCs may need to re-open at short notice should there be severe disruption to normal kerbside collections.
If you are a commercial waste customer and wish to suspend your waste collections due to your business being closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will honour this.
We will suspend collections until you contact us to restart them and you will not be charged for any collections that do not take place.
Please either email Commercial.firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01482 300 301 to arrange this.
