Appointments to register a birth

Home / Communities and living / Births and deaths / Appointments to register a birth

The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that we have had to make a number of changes to the way we deliver our services, whilst we recognise the importance of registering your baby’s birth, we ask that you help us to keep everyone safe by following the measures we have put in place.

To help you avoid unnecessary travel we are offering appointments from various locations -

  • Priory Children's Centre, Priory Primary School Road, Hull HU5 5RU
  • Parks Children's Centre, Courtway Road, Hull HU6 9TA
  • Acorn Children's Centre, Nestor Grove, Hull HU9 4DB
  • Bransholme Customer Service Centre, Goodhart Road, Hull HU7 4DW

The availability and location of appointments does vary from week to week in order to offer a variety of locations and to meet demand.  This means there will not always be appointments available at all locations.

If there are no appointments available at your preferred location, please check availability again later as more appointments are made available on a regular basis.  The booking system will only display available appointments,  If no appointments are identified, at the location selected, then this will mean there are no appointments available to be booked at the current time.

If you experience difficulty booking an appointment or cannot access one of these locations please contact us at register.office@hullcc.gov.uk and make us aware.

Appointments are not currently being made available at The Wilson Centre.

Appointments must be booked online and cannot be booked over the telephone.

Please read the following important advice before attending your appointment

If you arrive early you should wait outside as waiting areas have been restricted. If you arrive late you will not be seen and will need to book another appointment. Only those who are essential for the registration should attend, those who are not required to attend will not be permitted to enter the building.

  • if you are married or in a civil partnership, only one parent should attend
  • if you are not married or in a civil partnership and father’s details are to be recorded, you both should attend.

If possible please do not bring your new baby or other children to the appointment. If you must you will not be allowed to bring prams or pushchairs into the building. There will be no changing or toilet facilities available.

On entering and leaving the building you will be required to use the hand sanitizer provided and once inside the building please comply with all social distancing measures put in place. All the furniture has been spaced following Government guidelines and should not be moved. Face coverings must be worn when entering the building.

During the registration

You will have to sign the register so you must bring your own pen with you, this does not have to be a fountain pen. We will not be able to give you the certificate at your appointment but you will be able to order and pay for certificates online after the birth has been registered. Certificates cost £11 pounds each and are posted out as soon as possible.
