Spring Bank improvements

Spring Bank cycling improvements

Work to install bus and cycle lanes along Spring Bank, Hull, will begin from Monday 27 July.

The scheme will run along Spring Bank between Ferensway and Princes Avenue.

It will include converting the left-hand lane in both directions into a combined bus and cycle lane, with some new sections of cycle lane also, to provide a continuous cycle facility along the full route.

It will also improve journey times for bus passengers along the route.

Green coloured surfacing and bike symbols will be installed on the road to help guide cyclists using this route and make drivers more aware of them.

A small number of kerb-side parking bays will be removed to facilitate this upgrade, however the existing parking lay-bys will remain unaffected.

Works will be carried out during the day with some overnight works. Lane closures will be in place.

The work is being fast-tracked in line with funding allocated by the Department for Transport (DfT) emergency active travel grant. These improvements are a trial to encourage more people to cycle.

Work to engage with businesses in Spring Bank is underway, and the public are also invited to submit any comments to cyclinghull@hullcc.gov.uk
