We use the information we collect to investigate and prosecute anti-social behaviour and support victims.

We process information about victims, perpetrators, witnesses and any other related individuals.

The types of information we process includes sensitive personal data and includes -

  • names and contact information for victims, perpetrators and other witnesses
  • allegations of anti-social behaviour
  • family situation and details of associates
  • details of vulnerabilities, including addiction issues and other risks to health and wellbeing
  • information about previous cautions and convictions

We process personal data to meet our statutory duty to reduce crime and disorder, protect the vital interests of victims and other persons who may be at risk of harm and in order to take legal action against offenders.

We receive information from -

  • members of the public making reports
  • other Council departments
  • professionals at other organisations including Police, Humberside Fire & Rescue, NHS
  • voluntary sector organisations
  • current/previous housing providers

We keep your personal information safe and confidential but we may be required to share it where-

  • we are required by law to share it
  • any person may be at risk of harm if the information is not shared
  • it is necessary to prevent, detect, investigate or punish a crime

We not use the information provided in reports to identify victims in legal proceedings without first obtaining their signed consent.

We retain investigation records for seven years from the date they are closed.
