A number of design guides are going to be produced including those that are site or area specific. Other design guidance on topics such as shop fronts or home extension will also be reviewed. When we have consulted on these design briefs and they have been agreed they will form an important part of the decision making process for planning applications. They will help to attract new investment and keep existing investment in Hull and produce quality designed development.
City centre key sites design guide
A guide is being produced that helps support the continued regeneration of the city centre following the highly successful City of Culture celebrations and recent investments made in the public realm and buildings such as The New Theatre, The Ferens and The Venue. A number of vacant sites have significant development potential for a mix of uses. We will soon consult on these proposals. Albion Square and Myton Street are the main sites for shopping led schemes.
The new Local Plan allocates land and buildings for certain uses. Because of their potential a number of Development briefs have been agreed which explains how these could be built. These are important in helping determine the nature of a planning consent and produce quality designed proposals. The briefs that have already been agreed are available to view and include -
