Support for Children in Foster Care

If you are a foster carer, there is plenty of help and support available to the child or children you are fostering.

A guide for children who live with foster carers

A guide for children who live with foster carers is available to download below.

The guide explains what foster care is, what they can expect from a social worker, advice about keeping in touch with family and friends, and who to go to if they want help or support.

Social worker

A child’s social worker always try to help and answer any questions about living away from home or about keeping in touch with their family.

A child can expect lots of things from their social worker including -

  • being listened to and having their wishes heard and acted upon whenever possible
  • coming to visit the child at your house
  • being told what is happening as often as they need to hear it
  • talking to other people about decisions that affect them

Children and young people can contact us at Hull fostering directly on 01482 612 800 or email and ask to speak to their fostering social worker.
