Funding has been committed for the regeneration of the Preston Road area over a five year period and is reviewed annually.
The plans include -
- 1000 new builds
- refurbishment of 366 Winget properties
- demolition of 514 Winget properties
Most of these properties are a non traditional property type referred to as a Winget. These homes were identified for demolition because their construction was classified as defective and extensive reinvestment is required to prolong their life.
The acquisition plan is phased with each phase divided into A and B separated by six month intervals. The phasing allows you to plan and explore options with our support. The dates given on the map are when we can start to visit you to support you through the process of purchasing your property ready for demolition.
We are working with residents to explore rehousing options in phases -
We work closely with the police, area team and other community partners to minimise antisocial behaviour associated with empty properties and ensure that demolition follows the acquisition of properties as closely as possible. Please report any issues to us or your local police.
These improvements by Fortem Energy Services Limited (formerly Wilmott Dixon) are nearing completion.
The work includes -
- structural improvements to give additional stability
- external wall insulation
You are informed by letter and a visit before any works start.
For private owners within the refurbishment areas there will be one to one visits to discuss works.
These homes are providing relocation options for those affected by the acquisition and relocation programme in the area.
