Sites of special historical interest can be placed on the national register of parks and gardens. This list is compiled and maintained by Historic England with the aim of identifying these sites and protecting them.
Registered parks and gardens are classified in grades to show how important they are in relation to each other. Grade I sites are of exceptional historic interest, grade II of great historic interest, and grade II of special historic interest. This grading is not affected by any listed buildings on the site.
There are two registered parks in Hull
- Pearson Park
- East Park
These are both grade II sites. You can access the entries below or at our offices in the Wilson Centre, Alfred Gelder Street, Hull, HU1 2AG.
Are registered parks and gardens protected?
There are no additional restrictions to sites on the register, but they do receive special consideration in future planning and proposals for development.
We consult the Gardens Trust on all applications that affect Hull's two registered parks. This is to ensure that we have the appropriate professional advice.
