We deal with permanent and temporary road closures to make sure roadworks to be carried out. Road closures need to be applied for and go through an approval process.
We also control various public highway activities such as the placement/use of scaffolding, hoardings, containers, building materials, skips etc by issuing permits.
We monitor and co-ordinate work carried out by the utility companies – such as Yorkshire Water, Yorkshire Electricity and Kingston Communications. This monitoring makes sure a co-ordinated approach to road closures to limit the amount of disruption to road users.
You can view current and forthcoming roadworks on searchable maps.
You can also set up alerts to let you know of proposed and ongoing works that may affect your journeys.
Carriageway Maintenance Work on Holderness Road (between Stanhope Avenue and Summergangs Road) Westbound
The works will commence Monday 5 August and be completed by Sunday 18 August, between the hours of 7:30am and 10pm.
For works to take place safely it will be necessary to allow two-way traffic via a contraflow, on the northern side of Holderness Road. It will also be necessary to close access to Holderness Road from the following streets, Southcoates Avenue, Lodge Street, Kelvin Street, Faraday Street and Telford Street. A diversion will be in place via Southcoates Lane. See plan enclosed.
There will be no vehicular access or parking permitted on Holderness Road between Stanhope Avenue and Telford Street. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Pedestrian footways will not be affected by these works.
Bus services will follow the proposed contraflow. Bus stops within the length of the contraflow (Westbound) will be suspended for the duration of the works.
If you would like to report a problem with any roadworks, or if you would like more information on roadworks and road closures, please contact us.
