Priory Woods Cemetery
Hull City Council’s Priory Woods Cemetery has been remodeled and is now open for all to visit and have a good look around, explore and enjoy. Now that Hull’s Northern Cemetery is now full for those wanting a burial into a new grave it was important tp provide an excellent alternative was available.
Anyone wanting to be buried, or memorialise a dear loved one, can now consider the Priory Woods Cemetery on Priory Road, West Hull. Everyone is welcome to come and have a look, maybe enjoy a walk around the grounds and appreciate the cemetery. It is a lovely large open space in a rural setting on the outskirts of the City.
Upon your visit you can speak to dedicated Bereavement Services staff who are based onsite and can help you through the options to consider. You can enjoy the cemeteries natural beauty, a place where biodiversity is encouraged and wildlife flourishes. Dog walkers are most welcome, however out of respect are asked to keep their pets on a lead at all times.
The cemetery has during this year undergone a major re-model and is now open for everyone to come and enjoy and maybe consider their final resting place arrangements, or, that of a loved one including memorial items. There is a modern building on site where a reception, shop and public toilet is located. There are a number of options available with knowledgeable staff on hand to help.
There is now a designated Peace Garden area with a water feature where you can sit peacefully along with a memory garden where visitors can sit and post a letter to remember a loved one. The grounds have been sensitively landscaped and decorative limestone walls built to provide secluded and private areas to enjoy.
Hull City Council are very proud to provide a natural burial area for those wanting something very simple and to be able to create the least impact on the environment. You can choose to mark a grave with a native fruit tree, others with nothing at all. We are here to help and provide options and make it easy and straightforward.
A new addition to the cemetery is a pet garden for owners who want to scatter or lay to rest a cherished furry friend.
Opening times
The cemetery is open seven days a week, closing during the Autumn/Winter months at 4.30pm. The site reception is open weekdays Monday, Wednesday, thursday and Friday 9.00am until 4.00pm, Tuesdays 10.30am until 4.00pm and Saturdays 9.00am until 12.00pm.
