When one household lives in a building, it is usually possible to alter or replace windows without applying for planning permission. One household living in a building means it is not shared by more than 6 people or split into flats.
There are some exceptions to this. You need planning permission to remove or alter a window facing a highway within -
- the Avenues and Pearson Park conservation area
- Boulevard conservation area
- Coltman Street conservation area
