Equality analysis

Home / Council and democracy / Policies and plans / Equality analysis

Equality analysis forms an important part of the processes designed to improve council policies and services. It allows us to test whether they are fair and meet the needs of staff and the people living in or visiting Hull.

It also allows us to comply with the Public Sector Equality Duty by evidencing ‘due regard’ against the 3 aims of the duty:

  • the elimination of unlawful discrimination
  • the advancement of equality of opportunity
  • the fostering of good relations

By undertaking equality analysis, decisions-makers can evaluate and understand the impacts of any proposed policy and service changes and identify improvements to make services fairer and more efficient.
