Domestic abuse strategy

Our domestic abuse strategy is an important element of the city's overarching objectives, contained within other relevant strategies -

  • community safety
  • safeguarding children and adults
  • police and crime plan
  • early help

This makes sure a focused and coordinated multi partnership approach to tackling domestic abuse in Hull - domestic abuse is everyone's business.

The overall vision of the strategy is that Hull is a city where everyone can live safe lives, without the threat and fear of domestic abuse.

The strategy is aimed at all those who live and work in Hull and have a role and responsibility in respect of domestic abuse regarding -

  • early intervention
  • prevention
  • service provision
  • protection

This sends a clear message that domestic abuse is not acceptable and every agency and individual has a responsibility to challenge and collectively work towards the prevention and elimination in all its forms.

The strategy provides a framework with shared definitions, understanding and priorities. It allows the promotion of partnership working and coordination of service delivery. This makes sure that women and children and all those affected by domestic abuse receive improved support and protection and work to reduce repeat victimisation and increase reporting.
