Pre-Tenancy Interviews, Offers and Refusals

Refusal

Refusing the offer

We will class the following as your refusal of the offer or the potential offer -

  • if you tell us at any stage during the process that you do not want the property
  • if you do not attend pre-arranged meetings or viewings
  • if you do not respond to telephone calls
    • letters
    • other contacts from us about a potential offer

If you refuse 2 offers within a 6-month period, your application will be frozen for 6-months.  During this time, you will not be able to bid.  This will be lifted automatically after 6-months, and you can start bidding again. You will be notified when this happens.

If you are currently in rented accommodation

If you are already in rented accommodation, it is your responsibility to give your current landlord notice.

Your council tenancy starts as soon as possible, and this means that you may be responsible for paying rent on both tenancies for a period. If you are in receipt of housing benefit you may be able to qualify for an overlap of benefits to cover part or all this period. You need to seek advice about this if appropriate.
