We are advertising and allocating our homes as normal but we have changed our working practices to ensure the safety of you and our teams. We will do as much as we can over the telephone rather than in person and will make sure that we follow government guidelines when carrying out property viewings and tenancy sign ups.
How to bid
You need to be registered on our housing list (Homesearch) to bid for properties.
You can bid for properties by accessing your 'My Housing Online' account below -
- by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Include your application reference number, your name, date of birth and the details of the properties (reference numbers and addresses) you want to bid for
- by text 07795 563 000 you must start with bid (followed by a space) and provide your housing application reference number, name and the property references of the properties you wish to bid on
- by telephoning 01482 300 300
Number of bids
The number of bids you can make in each advert depends on which priority band you are in. If you are in band -
- A or B you can make up to three bids
- C, D or E you can make up to two bids
If you bid for a property that is not owned by us you are agreeing for us to share your details with the landlord of that property (the property advert will state who the landlord is).
Adverts are published weekly on a Thursday morning and bidding closes the following Monday at 5pm. This may change across public holidays or when we need to carry out essential system maintenance.
We expect a high volume of people using the website on Thursdays when bidding opens. If you have any problems placing bids on Thursdays please be aware that it is not a first come first served process and you have until bidding closes to place your bids.
You need to scroll to the bottom of the page and select browse all available properties.
Choosing your bids & refusing offers
It is very important that you choose your bids carefully and only bid for properties that you are eligible for and would accept if offered.
If you refuse two offers of accommodation within a six month period your housing application will be frozen for six months. You will not be able to bid whilst your application is frozen.
We provide basic property information and where possible a photograph of the property available for bidding. We do not give the exact address because the property may still have a tenant living in it or have works being carried out to it. You must not ask the tenant, their neighbours or any operatives who may be at the property if you can look around the property. You will be invited to view the property if you are the successful bidder.
These are the rules we have about who we consider for different property types. We do not consider bids you make for properties you are not eligible for so please bid carefully.
Placing a bid
When bidding is open there are three search icons at the bottom of the page. To bid for a property you must add it to your basket. Once you have added all of your bids to your basket you need to confirm them or they are not placed.
Make sure you allow enough time to place your bids before the 5pm deadline. Any bids received after the deadline will not be considered.
If you are not able to bid yourself and do not have anyone to help you we offer an assisted bidding service. We agree with you in advance the areas and property types you would like to be considered for and bid on your behalf when a matching property is advertised.
After bidding has closed
We will contact the successful bidder as soon as possible after bidding closes (usually within a couple of days). You should assume you have not been successful if you do not hear anything from us after bidding has closed.
To register for a 'My Housing Online' account use the button below
Our new online housing portal is now live. To be able to use this new portal you will need to register as your old login details will not work.
You will need -
- an email address
- your rent account reference number
- or your Homesearch application number
On the registration page enter your email address and create a password. A verification email will be sent to the email address you have used to register. You must use the link in the email sent to you within one hour to verify the email address and continue the registration process.
You will be asked to enter either your rent account reference number or your Homesearch application number. Next you will be asked to enter your personal details and create your memorable question.
To create your account accept the terms and conditions and select 'Finish' to receive a welcome email.
You will now be able to login and use our online housing services such as -
- report repairs
- bid for properties
