Disability railcard

Lost, stolen and cancelled cards

Lost or stolen railcard

If your disability railcard becomes lost or stolen visit one of the issuing libraries as soon as possible for a replacement. For a replacement you need to provide proof of identity, but you do not need to provide proof of residency or disability if these details have not changed.

Rail card hot listing

We will electronically cancel your rail card and 'hotlist' it if it's no longer valid for travel.

There are several reasons why a rail card may be cancelled -

  • if you've previously reported your rail card as lost or stolen and it has been replaced - make sure you use your most recent rail card and destroy any older ones
  • if we've contacted you requesting proof of continued eligibility and you've not provided it
  • if your rail card has been used inappropriately, for example by a family member or friend

If a hot listed rail card is presented for travel, it will be rejected by the card reader as it's not a valid card. You'll be asked to pay the fare for your journey and will have to hand over your rail card, to be returned to us. This is to reduce the number of cancelled rail cards in circulation.

If you believe you are still eligible for free travel, please contact the Disability Railcard Team as soon as possible.

You'll need to pay for travel until you receive your replacement rail card.
