The Phoenix Way: Monitoring and Evaluation Workshop

The phoenix way monitoring and evaluation workshop

This event provides a practical introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation, supporting participants to understand why it matters, what funders expect, & how to design proportionate, useful frameworks.

About this event

Join us in person for The Phoenix Way workshop and master the essentials of monitoring and evaluation!

Monitoring and evaluation helps organisations track performance, measure impact and use learning to improve services, demonstrate value and strengthen accountability to funders and stakeholders.

This workshop provides a practical introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), supporting participants to understand why M&E matters, what funders expect, and how to design proportionate, useful frameworks. Through a mix of input, discussion and hands-on activities, participants explore core concepts such as outcomes, indicators, theory of change, and data collection methods. The session focuses on building confidence to use M&E not just for accountability, but as a tool for learning, improvement and better decision-making.

Intended Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the purpose and value of Monitoring and Evaluation, including typical funder expectations
  • Be able to distinguish between monitoring and evaluation, and between outputs, outcomes and impact
  • Clearly articulate programme goals and outcomes using a theory of change or logic model
  • Identify appropriate indicators and data collection methods aligned to outcomes
  • Develop an outline, proportionate M&E framework or plan for their own work
  • Feel more confident using M&E evidence to reflect, learn, communicate impact and inform future decisions.
