Project Management - Learning and Development courses

Course Title Project Management
Course Information

The One Day Project Management Course forms part of the Council’s project management framework – the overall aim of which is to deliver successful quality projects on time, to budget and in line with the Ambitions of the Community Plan. The course aims to improve project management skills throughout all service areas in the Council thereby achieving consistencies and efficiencies in ways of working. The methodology used in the course is loosely based on waterfall project management – suitable for projects with clearly defined outputs, outcomes and benefits and is aimed at both project managers and project support officers.

The course consists of

  • Project management methodology
  • Project governance
  • Risk management
  • Project planning
  • Communication and engagement
  • Project business case
  • Project delivery
  • Project closure

On your acceptance to attend this course you will receive access to a guide, toolkit and other information in a dedicated Teams Channel. This will be sent the day before the training and you will need to bring your laptop (if you have one) to the training course for reference to this information. Full completion of the course includes a follow up review of your project management skills 3 to 6 months after the course demonstrating that the learning has being put into practice in a new or existing project.
