If you attended the Verbal intervention 1 day = 0.5-day Refresher If you attended the Verbal Intervention with Disengagement techniques 1.5 Day = 1 day Refresher. This is a competency-based Refresher course following on from either the 1 day or 1.5 day foundation course. The refresher is a requirement and will involve your attendance at one of the following sessions; The refresher recaps on your knowledge and skills in order to ensure that you are continuing to provide the best possible Care, Welfare, Safety and Security within your practice. Eliminating all forms of restrictive practice is a significant challenge for every organisation and cannot be achieved by training alone. To achieve the goal of restraint-free services, there are six approaches or core strategies that organisations can use. • Leadership commitment to organisational culture change • Data collection to inform effective decision making • Workforce development to expand knowledge and skills • Participation and co-production by people with lived experiences • Restraint reduction tools • Post-incident support and learning for continuous improvement We will look at strengthening your existing knowledge and skills in relation to primary strategies, secondary interventions, and non-restrictive interventions. |
