Course Information

Aims

To give participants an overview of the key elements relating to attachment, trauma, and brain development in children.

Objectives

  • Have an understanding of what ‘attachment’ means. This includes the most commonly recognised styles
  • Have a knowledge to the evolving theory
  • Have an appreciation of the role that ‘shame’ plays in children and families lives
  • Have an understanding of the ‘Internal Working Model’ and be able to link this to their own practice
  • Have a basic understanding of the developing brain and the impact of trauma upon this
  • Have a basic understanding of therapeutic approaches and the importance of building trust
  • Be able to bring a ‘trauma lens’ to their practice
  • Be able to identify the ‘gaps’ they need to fill in their own practice

For external delegates to the Hull City Council this course will come at a charge of £150+VAT per person.
