Moving and Handling Children and Adults - Learning and Development courses

This is an assessed course, aimed at providing carers with a range of both manual handling skills and use of equipment. For example, slide sheets and hoists.

Staff must complete a health and fitness questionnaire prior to attending this course. It is essential that all attendees are physically fit enough to participate. This is a very strenuous course and participation is compulsory. Sensible clothing and flat soled shoes are essential.

Aims and Objectives

• Relevant legislation
• Basic anatomy
• Biomechanics and movement patterns
• Basic ergonomics
• Care handling versus therapeutic handling
• The risk assessment process
• Identifying controversial lifting techniques
• Being able to demonstrate ability to use moving and handling aids and equipment
• Demonstrating the ability to apply appropriate manual handling technique

For external delegates to the Hull City Council this course will come at a charge of £58+VAT per person.
