This course is designed to aid managers highlight issues relating to moving and handling.

Aims and Objectives

• Aware of the risk factors associated with moving and handling
• Able to state relevant health and safety legislation. They will be able to identify key duties relating to specific legislation
• Able to summarise their responsibilities in relation to health and safety, such as moving and handling, and identify what action needs to be taken in relation to the use and maintenance of equipment
• Able to:
  • Identify unsafe manual handling technique
  • Provide a rationale for stating that a particular technique is unsafe
  • Recommend a safer alternative
• Able to carry out moving and handling risk assessments, and make appropriate recommendations
