Conservation areas

Conservation areas are places of historical or architectural importance. We want to preserve or enhance them. These are not the like listed buildings, as there are no national standards or grades. Local authorities decide which areas to protect.

In Hull, there are 26 conservation areas -

We put together a character appraisal for each area saying what is special about it. You can see these and large-scale maps showing the boundaries of all the conservation areas at The Guildhall, Alfred Gelder Street.

Consultation is taking place for alterations to the following Conservations Area -

Recent public consultations

Jameson Street public consultation was completed between 11 December 2023 and 22 January 2024. It was on proposed changes to the conservation area. Committee and Cabinet will review proposals for adoption in Spring 2024.
