Course Title Assisted Eating, Drinking, Nutrition and Hydration
Course Information

To ensure staff have the skills, knowledge, confidence and ability to support people with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties.

 

  • Identify and explain ways to work in a person-centred way to ensure adequate nutrition and hydration to patients/clients
  • Have an overview of the risks of malnutrition and dehydration and be able to assess for those at risk
  • Have an awareness of swallowing problems (dysphagia) and how to implement dysphagia management plans
  • To be able to prepare oral intake for people with differing needs
  • Support with safe feeding techniques including practical experience
  • Undertake mouthcare competently and support with oral healthcare

 

For external delegates to Hull City Council, this course comes at a charge of £35+VAT per person.

Course length 3 Hours
Target group

All staff who manage and work in a care home, including managers.
