Aims

To understand best practice in safer recruitment of staff and/or volunteers

Objectives

  • Understand a model of offender behaviour.
  • Identify the key features of staff recruitment that helps to deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.
  • Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting.
  • Help you to review your policies and practice in recruitment with a view to creating a safer culture

This is not intended to be a comprehensive workshop on staff recruitment and selection and for Hull City Council staff who are involved in recruitment and selection should still complete the Recruitment and Selection training alongside this course.

Course length 7 hours
Target group

Anyone working with children and young people (but not in education or early years) for example, family hubs, voluntary and community sector, children’s homes who play a part within recruitment and selection of staff and/or volunteers
