Course Title Continence, Catheter and Stoma Care Awareness
Course Information

To provide an overview of the Health Care Professional’s role when providing person-centred care and support patient’s elimination requirements including continence care, catheters and stoma care

 

  • To understand the principles of catheter care
  • To demonstrate catheter hygiene and care
  • Be able to identify and escalate possible complications of catheter care
  • To gain knowledge of penile sheaths and how to apply correctly
  • Have an awareness of what is a stoma and why patients have a stoma
  • To demonstrate how to care for a patient with a stoma
  • Be able to identify and escalate potential complications with the stoma
  • Have awareness of containment products available
Course length 3 hours
