Apply for a pet shop licence

Pet sales/shops and other businesses offering pets for sale must have a valid licence. This licence may set out a number of conditions to secure the wellbeing of the animals.

Application process

  • complete an application form 
  • provide a copy of your current liability insurance certificate 
  • provide details of policies and procedures

Once an application has been received, a council officer will arrange to inspect the premises to ensure it is suitable.

Following a successful inspection and payment, a star rating will be granted determining the length of licence given.
