Listed buildings

Buildings at Risk

The Council maintain a Buildings at Risk register for nationally listed buildings located within the City. The criteria for buildings being added to the list are:

  • Condition
  • Vacancy
  • Unauthorised developments.
  • Requirement to take enforcement action.

Being included on the list means that identifying a sustainable use or taking formal enforcement action for the heritage asset is a priority for the Council.

Currently there are 11 entries on the Register, which represents 24 individual listed buildings. A report on the status of each entry on the Register is reviewed by Planning Committee on a quarterly basis. Access the latest report.

Buildings which have recently been removed from the Register include:

  • Castle Buildings, Castle Street,
  • National Picture Theatre, Beverley Road
