People with no fixed abode
You can still register to vote if you do not have a fixed address. This may be because you are a -
- patient in a mental health hospital
- homeless person
- person remanded in custody
It is not possible to register online as a person with no fixed address. You should contact us by -

We can then post the application form to you. Alternatively, you can collect a paper application form from The Guildhall 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Students or people with 2 addresses
If you split your time between 2 addresses, you can register to vote at both addresses. For example, if you are a student and have a home address and a term time address. This is as long as they are both not in the same local authority area.
At local elections, you can vote in both places. At national elections, such as a parliamentary general election or a referendum, you can only vote in one place. You can choose which place you vote in. Voting in more than one place at national elections is a criminal offence.
