Private Sector Access Team - Tenant Finder Service

Due to the current demand for housing across the city, it is necessary for Hull City Council to assist households in finding accommodation in the private sector.

The Private Sector Access Team has worked in partnership with private landlords and management agents for over six years and has achieved 100s of successful outcomes for residents in the city.

We need more properties to meet demand and have tenants waiting. We offer a free service to landlords and management agents who work with us, as well as providing dedicated support.

What you can expect from us

  • We will advertise your property for free
  • All prospective tenants are assessed for affordability, and ID and right to rent checks are completed
  • Tenancy history checks are completed and references provided (if applicable)
  • Dedicated support is provided to both landlord and tenant. Working with us will give you dedicated ongoing tenancy support, and you will have a dedicated officer who is on hand to assist you with any tenancy issues. We will work with you to ensure a sustained and long successful tenancy is achieved
  • Financial assistance is given to assist our clients. We can pay rent in advance and deposits on behalf of the tenant. This ensures quick payment to you. Housing-related benefits can be paid directly to the landlord/management agent if appropriate
  • Strong partnership links-We have strong relationships with partner agencies such as the Department for Work and Pensions and other agencies, so we can help ensure the tenancy is sustained if a tenant's circumstances change

What we need from you

  • Properties to be in good condition and up to HHSRS standards
  • Repairs to be completed on time
  • Rents to be affordable
  • Fulfil all responsibilities required of a landlord/management agent (Our service does not include a tenancy management service, and we still expect you to manage the tenancy (or employ someone to do this for you). We also do not lease properties and require you to provide all relevant paperwork at the sign-up stage
