We do not accept

The following items should not be placed in the black bin -

  • vapes
  • batteries
  • garden and food waste
  • glass bottles and jars
  • paper and cardboard
  • plastic bottles and tubs
  • commercial waste
    building materials*
  • liquids including paint and oil*
  • asbestos**
  • hazardous, toxic or flammable substances
  • clinical waste and sharps
  • fluorescent tubes*
  • hot ashes
  • car batteries*
  • gas bottles* - Contact supplier as detailed on bottle
  • televisions*
  • paint tins
  • other waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)*
  • garden waste including -
    • soil
    • stones
    • green waste or similar materials*

(*) may be taken to any Household Waste Recycling Centre.

(**) Asbestos may be taken to Wiltshire Road Household Waste Recycling Centre only.

New waste management schemes

From March 2026, recycling will be easier and more consistent across England. The new Simpler Recycling system means everyone, whether at home, work, or school, will be able to recycle the same materials.
