Council decision records

Information on the principles of decision-making, including -

  • cabinet
  • cabinet committees
  • task groups
  • area committees
  • forums
  • regulatory excepted committees.

We publish records of a lot of the decisions taken within the council. They cover a wide range of subjects. These can include -

  • if the decision is being made by a councillor or an officer rather than at a Committee meeting. This happens in certain circumstances.
  • when we are awarding a contract where the value is between £50,000 and £250,000
  • when we are allowing a decision to be taken which does not meet our own Contract Procedure Rules. This is known as granting an exemption

Before a decision can be acted upon, it must be published online. Some decisions also have a cooling-off period. It is known as the call-in period following publication. This means that they cannot be acted upon for a specific time after they have been published.

We have a commitment to make sure that you know what your council is doing and what decisions it is making. Decision Records are a formal record. They inform councillors and the public of decisions being taken outside of meetings. Decision Records are published on a regular basis.
