Business Improvement District (BID) election
Background Information
A Business Improvement District (BID) is a defined geographical area. HullBID covers the main part of the city centre and represents over 780 businesses, spread across 1,174 commercial properties.
BIDs are generally not-for-profit; they do not replace or subsidise existing public bodies and services but enhance them.
Baseline service level agreements are set and a BID provides specific improvements over and above these services, for example safety and cleanliness.
BID Election 2026
Businesses that are part of the BID vote every 5 years to choose whether to remain with the BID arrangement in place.
The most recent election took place on Thursday 30 July 2026.
Results
The majority of votes cast were in favour of the proposal.
The aggregated rateable value of the votes cast in favour of the proposal to renew the BID was higher than that against the proposal.
Therefore, the proposal for a Business Improvement District for Hull was successful.
