You can report a non-emergency hate crime or hate incident to Humberside Police.

In an emergency you should always telephone 999.

A hate crime is any criminal act committed against a person or their property. It is motivated by the offender's hatred or dislike because of their -

  • race
  • religion
  • disability
  • sexual orientation
  • transgender identity

A hate incident is any incident which the victim, or anyone else, thinks is based on someone's prejudice towards them because of their -

  • transgender identity

If you wish to remain anonymous, provide as many details as possible. It may prove difficult to progress the case otherwise.

Alternatively you can telephone the police on 101.

You can also report hate crime at a number of hate crime reporting centres.

What happens next

The information you provide is submitted to Humberside Police. It is shared with relevant partners, including us, who work together to resolve the issue.

The police work with us to investigate your report. They take appropriate action to stop it happening again or to prevent it from escalating further.

Keep a log of any further related incidents, including dates and times, to add to your case. This will help with our investigations.
