Animal Licences

Apply for cat and dog boarding and day care licences

Anyone who wishes to carry out home boarding, day care or commercial boarding for dogs and cats needs to hold a valid licence. This licence may set out a number of conditions to secure the wellbeing of the animals.

Application process

You need to -

  • complete an application form
  • provide a copy of your current liability insurance certificate
  • provide relevant requested policies and procedures

Once an application has been received, a council officer will arrange to inspect the premises to make sure it is suitable.

Access our application form and guidance documents.

Following a successful inspection and payment, a star rating will be given determining the length of licence granted.

You can find more information about animal welfare fees and charges.
