The Right to Grow scheme makes Council-owned land available, where appropriate, to community organisations for gardening.
The scheme supports residents and community groups to take ownership of their local environment through maintaining and improving the open areas for the benefit of the local community.
It provides opportunities for small-scale gardening to feature such projects as growing-
- food
- native plants
- wildflowers
- fruit trees
The scheme is designed to improve your neighbourhood and we ask you to respect and engage with your neighbours.
You will need to gain written approval of your project before you start.
If you and a group of residents have an area of land near you that you are interested in improving, growing on and maintaining you can apply for the scheme.
This does not commit you at this stage and we will contact you to discuss your project in person.
Successful applicants will be issued with a Licence Agreement.
The land will be available for use on a rolling annual basis, this allows for the agreement to be terminated should the land be required for other purposes in the future or if the project comes to an end.
