Community Highstreets Programme

We have allocated £6 million to spend on community high street improvements with a phased programme of work. Work has already commenced to gather information and research about a number of local and neighbourhood centres in various locations around the city. The funding will be divided between the areas covered by all six Area Committees within the city -

  • East
  • East Central
  • North East
  • North West
  • West
  • West Central

Over the course of the project we will improve a total of 16 neighbourhood and local centres spread across the city. The project is grassroots led with a programme of public engagement events being held to identify potential improvements from the people in these areas, who -

  • live
  • work
  • shop

The approach will be tailored according to the results of the engagement for each area.
