A Home Condition Survey is a visit carried out by the council to look at the condition of your property. This helps us understand the quality, safety and maintenance needs of the 23,000 homes Hull City Council maintains across the city.
A Home Condition Survey should be completed every 5 years.
The information collected allows us to -
- plan future maintenance and improvements
- ensure homes are safe and provide a good standard of living
- improve services for residents
What to expect during your survey
When a surveyor visits your home, they will carry out a visual inspection of the property. This usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.
During the visit, the surveyor may -
- inspect the condition of walls, roofs, windows and doors
- check kitchens, bathrooms and ventilation
- look for signs of damp, mould, or structural issues
- take notes and photographs for assessment purposes
Our surveyors will -
- always carry identification
- explain what they are doing during the visit
- respect your home and privacy
You do not need to prepare anything in advance, and no repairs will be completed during the visit, but it helpful if clear access to all rooms is available
