If you use a building or part of a building for non-domestic purposes, you will be liable for business rates. This includes -
- an occupier of a non-domestic property, either as an owner or as a tenant
- an occupier of a non-domestic property that holds a signed tenancy agreement, even if you have not moved in or have yet to start trading
- a landlord of a non-domestic property, and you do not have a tenant
- the business is located within the Hull boundary

Why it's important to register
If you move into or out of a non-domestic property, or you own a property that is occupied or vacant, if this property is in Hull, contact us straight away so we can -
- work out the correct charge for you
- award any relief or exemption
- send you a correct bill as soon as possible
- end your liability for the Business Rates charge if you no longer occupy the property
- if you are within the City Centre, registration and/or relevant changes could affect liability for the Hull Business Industry District (BID) levy
