The Employment Hub is based on the first floor of Hull Central Library and is offering the following support -

- support and guidance on job searching
- advice and guidance on barriers into work
- knowledge of employment and education opportunities (traineeships/apprenticeships)
- work placement opportunities and access to volunteering and training

Humber women in the workforce
For women aged 18+ either in employment or unemployed who are -
- at the start of their career
- wanting to retrain and gain confidence to rejoin the workforce
- considering a career in Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths (STEM)
- wanting to re-enter the workforce after a career break
Lifelong skills for growth
For ages 50+ and in employment who -
- are considering phased retirement
- have care responsibilities
- want to learn skills to future-proof work experience
- need help finding work and placement opportunities
Help is available for SMEs to -
- create a better workplace for staff with caring responsibilities and health issues
- utilise the experience of an older workforce
Employability Well being service (a)
For ages 16+ who are not in employment who -
- are unemployed
- are young unemployed (16-25)
- are facing mental health issues
- are furthest from the workforce
- want to gain new skills, experience and confidence
- want to access careers advice and help
Employability wellbeing service (b)
For ages 18+, in employment and dealing with mental health issues who are -
- employed adults
- facing mental health issues
- need help with managing mental health issues at work
- need help to gain confidence at work
- need access to specialist workplace training
Help is available for SMEs to -
- tackle the stigma of mental health in the office
- support staff with mental health needs
Eligibility
To be eligible for support you must -
- live in the Hull area
- you or a family member in the same household must be claiming some form of benefit
- there is no age restriction for the support we offer

We hold regular 'Meet the Employer' events where local employers come into the Hub to showcase their vacancies. These are free events to attend and are advertised on all our social media sites

Employability Support to Businesses
Employment Growth Grant
Open to all Hull Businesses creating new posts to keep an individual on -
- post apprenticeship
- Kickstart placement
- traineeship
The employee does not have to be resident of Hull, but the business does.
A wage incentive paid in two stages -
- on commencement of employment - £1,000
- three months after continuous employment - £1,500
This is full time equivalent the funding will be reduced if the post is less than 37 hours.
Upskilling Funding
Open to all Hull Businesses for retention of staff or to sufficiently enhance the business to grow. For example if a member of staff requires training to use a new package or piece of machinery which would negate the need for the business to outsource.
- training cannot be a legal requirement (e.g. Health and Safety) or be partly funded by another grant (it must be paid in full by business)
- this is only open to Hull Businesses
- payments are 50per cent up to a maximum of £1,500 per person
- a maximum of five applications per business (one application per person)
