Aids and adaptations for our tenants

If you are a Hull City Council tenant, you can apply to have aids and adaptations to your property to make it easier and safer to live in your home. There are various adaptations available, including -

  • stair lifts
  • access and egress ramps
  • access to bathing facilities
  • access to toileting facilities

You must have been referred to Occupational Therapy (OT) for an assessment before contacting the Private Housing team. If you have not then you must use the relevant link below.

To qualify, the person being considered must have -

  • a physical or mental impairment
  • substantial mental health issue or physical disability caused by -
    • illness
    • injury
    • impairment
  • substantially impaired
    • sight
    • hearing
    • speech

If your home is not suitable to be adapted, we can add you to our adapted housing list. You must also have had an assessment by an occupational therapist. They will have decided that you need an adapted property.

The Occupational Therapist refers you to financial care. If you have not had a referral from an OT, you would be signposted back to Social care. Once the Occupational Therapist has passed the referral back to financial care, this will be passed to a Housing Officer. They will attend with a surveyor to assess whether you are better suited to move or have your home adapted.
