The Adult Social Care (ASC) Financial Assessment Team is responsible for assessing service users for their contribution towards their adult social care and support services.
Adult Social Care is not free, some people may be asked to pay the full cost of their care whereas many others pay a contribution towards them and then the council pays the remainder. To work out your contribution a Financial Assessment is carried out.
This is a calculation using your income, savings, property, outgoings, and personal circumstances to determine how much (if any) you need to pay towards the cost of your care.
The assessment will vary depending on which service you are in receipt of. For users receiving permanent Residential Care, the assessments are slightly different as the value of any property you own may also be considered.
Paying for Care Calculator
To get an estimate of how much money you may have to contribute towards the cost of your care, you can complete our online Paying for Care calculator.
Once you have completed the calculator and are shown what your maximum contribution might be, you have the option to submit that calculation to the Financial Assessments Team, however, only submit this estimate if you have already completed an Adult Social Care Self Needs Assessment with Hull City Council.
If an Adult self-assessment application has been completed and agreed, it will be sent to the Financial Assessments Team to calculate the amount, if any, that you will need to pay towards your care costs. The team may contact you to provide evidence of your financial circumstances. Once assessed, you will be notified in writing.
