Scale Lane Footbridge
Following recent inspections and investigations in August 2024, we discovered that some of the mechanical fixings on Scale Lane Footbridge have experienced fatigue failure.
To maintain safety, and ensure the bridge remains operational, we are developing a programme to repair the mechanical elements accordingly within the next five years.
Details of the confirmed programme, including exact timeframes, will be announced on this page, and on Hull CC News.
In the meantime, whilst the programme is being developed, the bridge will remain operational as much as is deemed possible.
The river traffic has priority over the pedestrians and every further movement to the bridge to accommodate the river traffic will cause further damage to the current condition of the structure. To mitigate this situation as much as is possible we are only operating the bridge when it is absolutely necessary.
