Hessle Road Flyover

Hessle road flyover

Works to the approach spans were undertaken in phases between 2001 and 2002. This work involved installing a corrugated arch system beneath the original structure and filling the gap with engineered material to enhance stability.

This method mirrored the approach used on the Marfleet Lane Flyover.

However, the corrugated arches below Hessle Road Flyover are now showing signs of corrosion, and water ingress is present. This was confirmed through investigation works carried out in the summer of 2024.

To fully understand the extent of the issue and explore options for future strengthening and repair, further investigations have been scheduled. These investigations will be carried out by Mason Clark Associates from 9am on Friday 18 July until 6am on Friday 12 September.

These works will span the full length of the flyover and are crucial for determining the future maintenance and strengthening works to ensure the structure’s long-term resilience.

To ensure public safety and maintain traffic flow throughout both the preparatory and main phases of work, the following traffic management measures will be in place -

  • The carriageway will be narrowed for drivers in two phases, allowing two-way traffic to continue during the works
  • The footpath will remain open for pedestrians throughout the works
